Road Trip 04-26-09

04-26-09
I have to walk to the office as the only place with internet is there. OK there is no internet there either and no one speaks anything but Rural Kentuckian. I decide that it does not matter. The spots at the Campground are not very level and as I said before the large RV's barely fit onto the sites. Yesterday when we pulled in I leveled the Coach and no matter what I did the back end was still a little too low, whatever, close enough for government work. When we wake up the right rear is about 4 inches lower since the ground below it could not support the weight of the coach. When I was at the office I talked to the guy that shows you the spots and he brought me some extra lumber to lift the coach. We look like the leaning tower of Piza but we are chocked and stable, after 30 minutes of experimenting with different combos of lumber. If OSHA inspected campsites we would be in trouble. We go to lunch at Calhoun's On The River. It is downtown on the Tennesse River and we bypass the formality of the inside, the outside deck is open and we find a table with a view. Service is slow since the waiters are wearing long sleve shirts and it's the first day of 80 plus temps and they are sweating like pigs. Brent the waiter finally comes over, we order 2 Ultras and check out the menu. Both of us pick chicken salad me the sandwich Dixie the Salad. We decide to get two different things, so Dixie gets the chicken salad salad and I get BBQ. The food looks great but it's missing something in flavor. They are selling the view and if you like the view of the River and the Hospital you will like this place. Parking is limited and you have to feel lucky to find a space. We are looking for some local hangouts. Can't find jack shit so we head to the Smoky Mountain Harley D. dealership and there are quite a few people actually buying stuff inside. I spent 30 seconds picking out a T shirt and go to the outside bar for a draft. Dixie spends 45 minutes picking out a shirt for herself. I strike up a conversation with some locals and they tell us about some local biker bars. We search for them all day and decide that this day is shot and head back to R & R at the Coach. We are cooking at home tonight. We are cooking 99 cent frozen pizzas tonight experimenting with the Convection part of our microwave. First one comes out and it's cooked but not crispy. Pizza #2 we pre heat the oven and cook it on a corell plate and its much better but still not perfect, we'll figure it out. We are watching the food channel and what they have looks much better than what we are eating. That's life, I'll quit bitching. The last two cupcakes are dessert and still as great as the day we got them. We don't have a plan for tomorrow, we'll see what daylight brings. See Ya, Bria
