Long day for me today. I had my brother Evan and his girlfriend Holly fly in from New Jersey today and I had to pick them up at the airport at 9 A.M., who is up at these hours? Well their plane is late and I could have slept in another hour, oh well it's family. So I drop them off at their motorhome that they keep on the Alafia River by Dixies Dockside. They hit the grocery to provision out for the week that they will be here. I am writing my blog and when I get done I ride my 2009 Street Glide, HD of course, over to their place. We take off to Salutes Sports Bar on Boyette Road. I call Dixie to see where she is and invite her, I get there a few minutes before them and get my hugs from the bartender, Paulette, she has been reading my blogs so naturally she wants to know about everywhere we have been. It's my sober day so I get a Diet Coke, not Pepsi and a menu and wait on them. Evan and Holley show up and we order. Evan's on vaca so a screw driver is in order and house chardonay for Holly. Food arrives and I get Cobb salad, It's also my low fat day, it's a cobb salad like everywhere else except there are tons of chunks of chicken. I couldn't finish it. Holly got the cobb but with a huge piece of grilled talapia, huge, good, couldn't finish it, Evan's meal got lost in the kitchen but shows up a few minutes later. It was the special of the day, steak quesdilla, not bad considering this ain't a Mex place. I'm trying to get points on the Travel Channel Anthony Bourdain contest so in the afternoom I'm rating other peoples reviews. I'm so tired of reading "it was good" I could puke. So tonight is special. we have been invited to dinner at Barb's Hideaway. This place is just a house and Barb fixes whatever she feels like. You are sworn to secrecy not to reveal the location before you are alllowed to get directions. Barb cooks home made pies for the Country Corner restaurant. Tonight John is showing off his newly acquired 55 Chevy, New Street Glides and every type of SUV that you can imagine line the backyard not visible from the street. I am not allowed to photograph the front for fear of Big Brother busting them. Food tonight is simple, crispy outside, tender inside, pan fried chicken, salad, beans covered with shredded pork and a secret recipe scalloped potato. There was complimentary sangria to drink. It's all you can eat and there was plenty of left overs. Everybody saved some room for dessert because there were the best homemade pumpkin, apple, fresh hand picked blueberry, and pecan pies for dessert. You can't put a price on a meal like this, it's like eating with friends and family, because you are. By invitation only. See Ya Brian
